GON block injections can provide short-term relief (typically a few weeks) for some individuals to help prevent migraine attacks. Your doctor might suggest a GON block if other preventive treatments have not been effective, or if you are awaiting the effects of new medications. This option may also be suitable if you cannot undergo other treatments due to age or pregnancy. Additionally, your doctor might recommend a GON block to address a prolonged migraine attack (status migrainosus).
