A transient ischemic attack (TIA), often called a “mini-stroke,” causes temporary neurological symptoms due to brief interruption of blood flow to the brain. Signs may last only minutes but should never be ignored. Common warning symptoms include sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, facial drooping, slurred or confused speech, vision changes, dizziness, loss of balance, and severe headache. Although symptoms resolve quickly, a TIA is a critical warning sign of an impending stroke. Immediate medical evaluation and treatment are essential to prevent permanent brain damage and reduce the risk of a major stroke in the future.
